No Southern town is complete without an homage or two to its rich antebellum history. Our museums, festivals and performing arts in Paulding County enrich our communities throughout the year. Won’t you join us?

Concert in the Park and Fireworks

Paulding County Parks and Recreations offers free concerts and fireworks at Taylor Farm Park (music is in the pole barn). Bring your picnic basket, chairs and blanket. Dallas Theater & Civic Center

Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Hiram Rosenwald School Museum

The Hiram Colored School, in Hiram, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. Built in 1930 with funds from the Julius Rosenwald Fund, this wood-frame structure served African-American students until 1955, when the school system was consolidated and the building sold to the Sweet Home Baptist Church. The school is now a museum to document that era. 732 Hiram Douglasville Hwy, Hiram, 770-439-3224


Paulding County Historical Society & Museum

The Paulding County Museum started in 1861 as the county's first school. Owned and maintained by the Paulding County Historical Society, the museum's ever-changing exhibits include Gems and Minerals of Paulding County; Native American artifacts; The School Room of the 1860s; Pictures of the City of Hiram; Civil War Artifacts; World War II Artifacts; Women's Fashion In Days Gone By; and many others. Paulding County Invitational Christmas Parade

Dallas Invitational Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Paulding County Inc. and Paulding County Civitan Club, Inc. Event is held annually on the 1st Saturday afternoon in December.


Paulding Meadows Arts & Crafts Festival

Attracting more than 50,000 annual visitors, the Paulding Meadows Arts and Crafts Festival, held the weekend after Labor Day at Earl Duncan Memorial Park, 1 1/2 miles north of Dallas on Highway 61, offers the works of artists and crafter from all over the country. www.pauldingfestivalsinc.org


Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic Site & Museum

Pickett's Mill Battle field State Historic Site is one of the most meticulously preserved battlefields in the nation. The visitor center offers a 15-minute film about the Battle of Pickett's Mill and houses the museum with its rare battlefield artifacts. See a 12-punder Howitzer cannon that is still uses in re-enactments and special events. 4432 Mt. Tabor Church Rd, Dalla, 770-443-7850, www.pickettsmillpark.org


Raccoon Creek Bluegrass Festival

Raccoon Creek Music Festival is a two-day extravaganza of some of the region's top bluegrass bands, taking place in July and September. Between the featured performances, join in the impromptu jam sessions that occur throughout the grounds! Young Actors Playhouse
